With the 4th of July past us, we here at Daily Dead, along with many comic book publishers, are in full-on Comic-Con mode, so get ready for all kinds of exciting announcements and exclusives headed your way this month! We’ve previously shared early details on two upcoming horror comic book series from Ignition Press: Cult-de-Sac and The Folk of Dooney Hollow. But if you want to get your first taste of these new titles before they hit comic book shops, you’ll have the opportunity to pick up standalone “Cold Open” issues for both series during SDCC, and we have all the details, along with a look at the cover art:
From the Press Release: “Ignition Press is excited to announce it will debut two new series ahead of their first issue releases in comic shops with original, standalone Cold Open issues at Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC).
Cult-de-Sac: The Cold Open from Cullen Bunn (Harrow County, Ripcord), artist Fico Ossio (Revolution), and colorist Ulises Arreola (Absolute Superman) debuts with an original prequel story of a couple’s deadly interaction with the mysterious Homeowners Association, along with a first look at Cult-de-Sac #1. Fans can purchase copies of Cult-de-Sac: The Cold Open Cover A by Ossio and Arreola at $4.99, and a limited-edition cover B variant by Ebrahel Lurci (Murder Podcast) at $9.99. The variant cover is limited to 500 copies. Cullen Bunn, recently in the news for his and Jonas Scharf’s series Bone Parish being in development for a TV series with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, will be signing copies at the Ignition Pavilion.
The Folk of Dooney Hollow: The Cold Open from Jeremy Haun (The Beauty, Murder Podcast), artist Alex Lins (Briar; Plastic Man No More!), and colorist Trish Mulvihill (100 Bullets) debuts with an original prequel story introducing the horrors in the woods, plus a first look at The Folk of Dooney Hollow #1. Fans can purchase copies of The Folk of Dooney Hollow: The Cold Open Cover A by Haun and Nick Filardi (Absolute Green Lantern, The Beauty) at $4.99, and a limited edition cover B variant by Lins at $9.99.
