Max Verstappen’s race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase’s (GP) future at Red Bull Racing has been under speculation since the 2025 season ended. The latest reports suggest that GP is in talks with a couple of F1 teams and is ready to leave the Milton Keynes-based outfit.
Helmut Marko confirmed that he will be parting ways with Red Bull at the end of 2025. The Red Bull dream team, which won multiple championships with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, has seen fractures over the last couple of years.
It all began with the allegations against Christian Horner for harassing an employee, followed by a power struggle within the team, and ended with Adrian Newey leaving the team. Earlier this year, Horner was sacked just days after the British GP amid a poor start to the 2025 season.
The dream team is set for further fracture in the form of Verstappen’s race engineer, who is reportedly in talks with Williams and Aston Martin. Gianpiero Lambiase has been in talks with the Grove-based team since the season ended, with Aston Martin stepping in recently.
Gianpiero Lambiase missed a couple of races in 2025 due to personal reasons and is reportedly key to a role that doesn’t require him to travel to all the races. Reports suggest that GP was interested in Williams’ plan to rebuild and get the team back to winning ways. However, Aston Martin has made a big offer to Max Verstappen’s close aide for a management position.

The Aston Martin position wouldn’t require GP to travel to all the races and will also give him the opportunity to reunite with Adrian Newey. Some reports even suggested the position of Team Principal and/or CEO being offered to Max Verstappen’s race engineer.
GP broke into tears after the Abu Dhabi GP as Max Verstappen lost the title by just two points and was comforted by Helmut Marko.
Is there a chance for Max Verstappen to reunite with the dream team at Aston Martin?
Max Verstappen was linked to Aston Martin and Mercedes earlier this year amid the uncertainty around his Red Bull future. However, the Dutchman confirmed that he’d be staying at the Milton Keynes-based team for the 2026 season.

Despite having a contract until the end of the 2028 season, Verstappen is believed to have exit clauses. Adrian Newey and Honda have already partnered with Aston Martin ahead of the 2026 season, with the latest reports of Gianpiero Lambiase being offered a position now circling the paddock.
Christian Horner was also linked to an Aston Martin move months ago, but the latest suggests that the Briton is set to buy a stake in Alpine. Regardless, with Fernando Alonso’s AMR contract ending in 2026, there is a possibility for Verstappen to join the Silverstone-based squad and get reunited with the dream team.
