Geena Davis has displayed a diverse range of skills in her filmography, both in movies as well as television. Her work spans drama (A League of Their Own), science fiction (The Fly), fantasy and comedy (Beetlejuice), adventure (Thelma & Louise) and horror (The Exorcist).
Audiences are acquainted with Davis portraying a victim on screen more often than the culprit. In fact, one of the actress’s strengths is her ability to demonstrate great degrees of vulnerability. This is seen in one of her most notorious roles in 1986’s The Fly. However, her newest project requires something very different from the Oscar winner.
HBO has cast Geena Davis in the lead role of serial killer Dorothea Puente in the new series, Dorothea.
Dorothea Puente, Neighborhood Saint… or Devil?
If you thought Ted Bundy didn’t look like your idea of a stereotypical serial killer, wait until you see Dorothea Puente. This sweet little old lady has a dark side you do not want to cross.

In 1980’s Sacramento, Puente was seen as the Mother Theresa of the community. She would take in homeless men, many of them alcoholics or mentally ill. Once fed, clothed, and provided a room in her boardinghouse, she assisted them in signing up for Social Security benefits.
These men who were down on their luck considered Puente a godsend. They had no idea the little old lady who took them off of the streets was the same person who would be putting them into an early grave.
Knowing no one would miss the men she housed, Puente would poison her tenants. After burying them around the residence she would then continue to cash in their social security checks.
This cold blooded granny has some ugly velcro strap sneakers for Davis to fill if she’s going to transform into Dorothea Puente, the killer landlady.
