Is it too early to think about Halloween? Not according to grocery stores across the continent. Besides, you don’t want to wait until the last minute for costumes. What if there are shipping delays, or what if they sell out? And if you want to make a costume, now is the time to get started. That’s why I’ve put together this list of baby Halloween costumes inspired by books, from a tiny hobbit outfit to a How to Train Your Dragon romper to—of course—a Where the Wild Things Are costume.
Some of these are made to order, so be sure to double-check that they will arrive in time for Halloween! Also, if you’re browsing Etsy for more costumes, be on the look out for AI—who knows what those will actually look like in real life. I’ve made sure to just include items here with real-life photos of the final product.
Unsurprisingly, most of the costumes I found reference classic children’s books or giant franchises. If you know of more baby Halloween costumes inspired by books by authors of color, please tell me about them!
What better costume for a baby or toddler than this Where the Wild Things Are romper, complete with crown, tail and slippers? Available in sizes 3-6M to 2T. $90
