In today’s Three Things I Think video, I wonder if we’ll be seeing the June/July Yankees or the September/October Yankees in this ALDS against the Blue Jays. The Yankees posted a 2-11 record against the Red Sox and Blue Jays in June and the early days of July, but they just impressively knocked off the Red Sox in the wild-card round. Can they continue the revenge tour north of the border? I’ll next touch on how defense will be a major key to this series.
BARCELONA, Spain — Thousands of people are marching in Barcelona as Spain, Italy and Portugal gear up for mass demonstrations to protest Israel’s war in Gaza. Protests in Spain’s second-largest city as well as in Madrid were called for weeks ago, while calls for demonstrations in Rome and Lisbon followed widespread anger after the Israeli interception of a humanitarian aid flotilla that had set sail from Barcelona, trying to break the blockade of the Palestinian territory. Italy already saw more than 2 million people rally on Friday across the country in a one-day general strike to support the residents of Gaza. Barcelona’s taxis take part…
The price tag of the New Jersey gubernatorial race – now neck and neck and grabbing attention of the national parties – has topped $72 million and is on pace to shatter the Garden State’s spending record with a month still left, a Post analysis found. Republican Jack Ciattarelli is gaining steam both financially and with voters, while panicked Democrats are funneling tens of millions of dollars through super PACs and other independent expenditures to pump up embattled Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s campaign — in a desperate bid to prevent the traditionally blue state where Dems outnumber Republicans by nearly 1 million registered…
The ex-husband of an NYC teacher accused of having an affair with her principal had six gunshots fired at his Staten Island home three days after The Post broke the scandal, officials confirmed. The NYPD is investigating the terrifying attack — captured on video — at the Great Kills home of Nicholas Sinodinos, 28, while he was snoozing with his fiancée. “My life’s been pretty much upside down since then,” he told The Post. Detectives looked for a link to Sinodinos’ ex-wife Jacqueline, 28, a teacher at PS 21 in Staten Island’s North Shore. Her romantic relationship with Principal Anthony…
An unusual pricing policy at a small-town South Australian thrift store has left bargain hunters scratching their heads. A member of the popular Facebook group Op Shopping Australia posted a photo taken in Burra, showing a window sign at a store called Goosey Goosey Gander. “$5 entry refundable on purchase, regular customers free,” the sign read. The anonymous poster wrote: “Well this is certainly something I’ve never seen before – second-hand store charging entry fee. Daughter just stopped by Burra, SA and came across a store called Goosey Goosey Gander. Must be making a tidy profit taking $5 per each…

Japan’s ruling party picked conservative nationalist Sanae Takaichi as its head on Saturday, putting her on course to become the country’s first female prime minister in a move set to jolt investors and neighbors. The Liberal Democratic Party, which has ruled Japan for almost all of the postwar era, elected Takaichi, 64, to regain trust from a public angered by rising prices and drawn to opposition groups promising stimulus and clampdowns on migrants. A vote in parliament to choose a replacement for outgoing Shigeru Ishiba is expected to be held on October 15. Sanae Takaichi speaks after being elected the new leader of the Liberal Democratic Party in Tokyo, Japan, on…
Chili’s is axing some popular items from its kids and dessert menus while also rolling out a new offering aimed at keeping customers satisfied. In late September, customers in the Reddit community r/Chilis expressed concern after a user leaked a photo that appeared to reveal the casual dining chain’s new menu. Notable removals include the Kids Pepperoni Pizza and Kids Cheese Quesadillas, as well as the Mini Molten dessert. The changes drew mostly negative reactions from the community. “No more kids’ quesadillas! That’s my daughter’s fav!” one Redditor lamented. “Can they bring back the chocolate shake lol I’m craving one.” “Now that…
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert addressed a conversation revealed by player Napheesa Collier, who alleged Engelbert said “[Caitlin Clark] should be grateful she makes $16 million off the court because without the platform that the WNBA gives her, she wouldn’t make anything.” Engelbert said at a press conference Friday she did not make those comments. “Obviously, I did not make those comments. Caitlin has been a transformational player in this league. She’s been a great representative of the game. She’s brought in tens of millions of new fans to the game,” Engelbert said. Collier also alleged that Engelbert said, “Players should be…
