Psychological science is really our best shot at making sense of how people think, feel, and act. It’s rooted in old philosophy but runs today on experiments, observation, and data. Back in the late 1800s, Wilhelm Wundt had the bold idea to treat consciousness like something you could study in a lab, the same way you might study a chemical reaction or a falling apple. But people aren’t atoms. We don’t follow fixed laws. We’re emotional and shaped by the world around us. Context, memory, trauma, culture, and love all matter. That’s why psychology can feel less like a clean,…

A Colorado man was charged nearly $20,000 for less than half an hour of parking at Denver International Airport — the second such error in two months at one of the nation’s busiest airports. Jim Boyd, of Glenhaven, said he parked for 27 minutes at DIA’s garage Thursday while dropping off his wife for a flight to Germany. The standard fee should have been $7. Instead, his credit card was charged $19,824 as he exited the garage. Jim Boyd shows the $19,824 parking receipt he was mistakenly charged after parking for just 27 minutes at Denver International Airport. 9 News…
Oklahoma wide receiver Keontez Lewis slammed his head into the brick wall past Oklahoma’s end zone while attempting to catch a touchdown pass in a scary scene during Saturday’s game against Kent State. The ball was overthrown, causing Lewis to run into the wall at full speed trying to haul it in. The brick wall lines the majority of Owen Field and starts relatively close to the gridiron. Lewis, a redshirt senior at Oklahoma, was on the ground for several minutes before finally being stretchered off the field. President Trump announced Saturday that Israel has agreed to an “initial withdrawal line” in Gaza, adding a cease-fire and hostage exchange would begin once Hamas confirms the deal. “After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to, and shared with, Hamas,” Trump posted on Truth Social, adding that the plan would mark “the end of this 3,000-year catastrophe.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier on Saturday that he ordered his negotiators, led by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, to travel to Egypt to finalize the technical details of the hostage release. Israel has…

There’s an old Latin phrase that has stayed with me lately: Succisa virescit. The translation roughly means, “When cut down, we grow back stronger.” Originally the sixth-century motto of the Benedictine Abbey of Monte Cassino, it reflects a simple but profound truth about the human condition—growth often begins in the aftermath of loss. What was once a call to spiritual and physical resilience has become, for me, a powerful metaphor for cognition itself, particularly in an age when artificial intelligence and large language models promise the curious dynamic of fluency without failure. And today, it’s the motto of one of…
