A British explorer has made history by becoming the first person to reach seven of the planet’s most inaccessible places. Chris Brown, 63, is on a mission to visit all eight Poles of Inaccessibility (PIAs) – the exact spot on a continental land mass or ocean that is furthest from the sea or coast in any direction. He has already ticked off six of them in North America, South America, Africa, Australia, the Antarctic, and the oceanic pole at Point Nemo in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The final stretch of Julius Randle’s Knicks tenure, which ended last Oct. 2 with a stunning blockbuster trade to the Timberwolves, found the star forward in a vulnerable situation. “At the end of that time, I was kind of at my darkest moment,” Randle told The Athletic. “Just miserable, like in a way where I just was not having fun going to work every single day.” Randle revealed that his five-season stint with the Knicks took a turn for the worse when he suffered a season-ending dislocated right shoulder against the Heat in January 2024. He had seen the Knicks…
Egyptian archaeologists recently uncovered a hidden harbor at an ancient temple connected to Cleopatra VII – an unexpected find for historians. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced the discovery of the harbor on Sept. 18. It was found at the Temple of Taposiris Magna, about 30 miles west of Alexandria. The temple, built in the Ptolemaic era, was dedicated to Osiris, the Egyptian god of the afterlife. Though the temple from the 3rd century B.C. was constructed two centuries before Cleopatra ruled, it was still in use by the time she took power. Cleopatra, who was respected in Egypt but vilified in…
Working the friendly skies comes with a not-so-pleasant downside. Ascending to 30,000 feet, flying to an exotic vacation destination, may sound like a dream. But a flight attendant says the seemingly serene scenario can be a skyway staffer’s worst nightmare — especially on their days off from work. “Something they don’t tell you about being cabin crew is, holidays aren’t going to feel like holidays anymore,” said Estelle Jones, an Emirates Airlines employee, detailing her disinterest in traveling for leisure when she’s not on the clock. Jones, a flight attendant based in Dubai, revealed one of the worse snags that come…
Emotional awareness is the ability to describe and manage one’s emotions and those of others. Individuals possessing high emotional awareness may appear effortlessly charming and are “just good with people.” They tend to exude confidence, have strong leadership skills and influence and even better mental health compared to those with low emotional awareness. In a 2024 study published in Scientific Reports, researchers explored two types of emotional awareness: Implicit emotional awareness. When someone has clarity about what they are feeling but not always why they are feeling that way. It’s almost automatic. Explicit emotional awareness. This involves both high attention…

Important games during the last weekend of the season? Most fan bases would sign up for that in a heartbeat. But coming off last year’s success on both sides of town, the expectations were higher for the Yankees and Mets — the Yankees coming off a World Series appearance and the Mets having made a surprising run to the NLCS and then going out and signing Juan Soto away from the Yankees. The two teams dominated early on, with the Yankees opening up a seven-game lead in the AL East just after Memorial Day weekend and the Mets gaining a…
