Andrade El Idolo may no longer be a part of WWE, but the star has won a championship as soon as he has been allowed to compete outside the company. The star has now broken silence on his win.
As reported by Sportskeeda exclusively earlier, Andrade and his legal team have worked with WWE to come to an agreement as to where he can perform during his apparently year-long non-compete clause is in effect. Sources close to the site have informed us that the agreement is in effect for Puerto Rico, with the former WWE star free to compete there.
Thanks for the submission!
However, this does mean that he cannot and will not compete in AEW, Mexico, or Japan during this period. The exact timeline for this deal is not certain, but this meant that he got to face Xavant tonight for the WWC Universal Championship at World Wrestling Council’s event.
At the event, Andrade was able to get the win and become the champion immediately upon entering the promotion. Now, the star has broken his silence in an exclusive to Sportskeeda Wrestling.
He said that he had promised that he would win the WWC Universal title, and that was exactly what he did in Puerto Rico. He added that he was a man of his word and asked everyone to stay tuned.
“I told you all I was going to win the WWC Universal Championship. I just did that tonight at Puerto Rico. I’m a man of my word. Stay tuned.”
Andrade has started off his post-WWE career in a big way
No matter whether he goes to Mexico, Japan, or AEW in the future, this is a good start for him in Puerto Rico, as he has not only established himself as the top star and champion, but also as the obvious man to beat.
Andrade wanted to make a statement and that is exactly what he has done, wasting no time in the process.
Now, it remains to be seen if Xavant is able to win it back, or who the other challengers to the title will be.
