The NFL’s first trip to Dublin came with a snag.
Steelers quarterback Skylar Thompson was the victim of a mugging on Friday night in the Irish capital ahead of Pittsburgh’s game against the Vikings at Croke Park, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.
Thompson suffered minor injuries, but is OK and with the team, per Pelissero.
The 28-year-old was already on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury on Sept. 10.
“We are aware of a situation involving Skylar Thompson on Friday night in Dublin,” a Steelers spokesman told Pelissero. “We will have no further comment at this time as we are working with NFL security to gather more information regarding the incident.”
Thompson, a Kansas State product, has played 10 games over three seasons in the NFL, all with the Dolphins. He also started a 2022 playoff game for Miami, throwing for 220 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions in a loss at Buffalo.
The Steelers and Vikings face each other Sunday morning in the NFL’s inaugural Dublin game as part of an expanded international schedule.

The league has already played in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for a second straight year and will have games in Madrid and Berlin, in addition to three games in London, with the Vikings playing in Europe for two consecutive weeks.
Both the Steelers and Vikings hold 2-1 records coming into Sunday morning.
