Meghan Markle’s elderly father found himself “trapped” on the 19th floor of an apartment building in the Philippines after the deadliest earthquake in more than a decade struck, the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged half-sister revealed.
Thomas Markle — who relocated to the Philippines earlier this year — was still stuck Wednesday after the 6.9-magnitude quake left dozens of people dead, Samantha Markle wrote in an X post of her 81-year-old dad.
“My father is stuck on the 19th floor of a building in the Philippines after a massive earthquake and he can’t walk and he is trapped,” she said.
“As of today he is OK , and making plans to get out out of that building. They seem to be safe for now, and hopefully there will be no serious aftershocks. Provisions are being made so that he won’t be trapped in a similar situation again. God bless and stay safe everyone!”
The retired TV lighting director previously said he moved to the Philippines to start afresh with his son, Thomas Jr., 58.
Meanwhile, rescue teams used backhoes and sniffer dogs to look for survivors in collapsed houses and other damaged buildings — a day after the earthquake killed at least 69 people and injured more than 200 others.
The death toll was only expected to rise as aftershocks continued through Wednesday, officials warned.
There was no immediate number on how many people were still missing.
The quake was one of the most powerful to batter the region in more than a decade and struck while many slept or were at home.
