President Trump on Tuesday welcomed Argentinian President Javier Milei to the White House, where the two will likely discuss a $20 billion currency swap.
Milei’s first visit to the Oval Office comes less than a week after the U.S. directly purchased Argentine pesos, finalizing the swap in line with Argentina’s central bank to help stabilize the South American nation’s financial markets.
Later Tuesday afternoon, Trump will honor the late Charlie Kirk with the Medal of Freedom. Both chambers of Congress passed a resolution marking Oct. 14, Kirk’s 32nd birthday, as a day of remembrance. Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Sept. 10.
The Senate will reconvene Tuesday afternoon and is slated to vote during the 5 p.m. hour on the House-passed continuing resolution to fund the government as the shutdown hits the two-week mark.
