Terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie was on bail for rape when he attacked a UK synagogue on Yom Kippur, according to reports.
The 35-year-old Syrian-born killer was under investigation for a sex crime committed earlier this year when he plowed his car into worshippers and went on a stabbing spree outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester on Thursday, The Guardian reported.
It is not clear when the rape took place, but it was being investigated by Greater Manchester Police — one of a number of crimes he is thought to have committed, a source said.
“He was on nobody’s radar for terrorism, but he definitely had a criminal record, though nothing to suggest he was going to do anything like this,” a police source told the Guardian.
Al-Shamie — who moved from Syria to the UK when he was a teen — was shot dead by police minutes after he rammed his car into a crowd of people outside the synagogue and then attacked them with a knife on Yom Kippur, the holiest Jewish holiday of the year.
Shocking video showed a cop frantically yelling at horrified onlookers to “go away” because the deranged suspect “has a bomb.” Authorities later confirmed the feared explosives that were strapped to his belt fake,
Manchester residents Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, were killed in the attack. At least one of them was accidentally shot by armed police, as was one of the wounded.

Investigators are also looking into whether Al-Shamie is behind menacing emails sent to conservative politician John Howell in 2012 after he defended Israel’s right to protect itself.
One of the emails the politician received came from a “Jihad Alshamie” who told him: “It is people like you who deserve to die,” the Telegraph reported.
His father previously posted support for Hamas terrorists who slaughtered Israelis on Oct. 7, 2023.
