Halloween and other Halloween Franchise Classics Slash Their Way To Nearly 400 Theatre Showings Nationwide: “This fall, the iconic masked killer is coming home again. John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978), widely hailed as one of the most influential horror films of all time, will terrify audiences once more when it returns to theatres across the country this October. The chilling classic, along with Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, will appear in more than 80 markets and nearly 400 theatre showings, with additional locations being added daily.
“Seeing Halloween in theatres is unlike anything else. It’s the way the film was intended to be experienced,” said Malek Akkad, CEO of Trancas International Films. “For many families and fans, revisiting Halloween in theatres has become a seasonal tradition—an annual chance to share the suspense, the dread, and the terror of Michael Myers on the big screen. We’re proud to once again partner with CineLife Entertainment® to bring not just Halloween, but also Halloween 4 and Halloween 5, to audiences everywhere.”
“Halloween is more than just a film. It is an experience that has become part of how people celebrate the season,” said Bernadette McCabe, Executive Vice President of CineLife Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to bring these classics back to theatres so both long-time fans and first-time viewers can share in the excitement, the scares, and the fun of spending October with Michael Myers.”
Halloween is one of the most beloved and revered horror films and it was the first horror film that integrated horror tropes to create the ultimate horror film. The film begins on Halloween night in 1963 with six-year old Michael Myers brutally murdering his 17-year old sister, Judith. He was sentenced and locked away for 15 years. But on October 30, 1978, a 21-year old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes Smith’s Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims. Halloween was written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill and directed by Carpenter. It starred Jamie Lee Curtis in her film debut, Donald Pleasence, P.J. Soles and Nancy Loomis.
Halloween 4:The Return of Michael Myers was released nearly a decade later in 1988. The apparently comatose Michael Myers (George P. Wilbur) is being transferred from one hospital to another, but he wakes up when the ambulance crew talk about his surviving niece, Jamie (Danielle Harris). After slaughtering his attendants, Myers sets out to find his one living relative who is, fortunately, being cared for by a kind and resourceful foster sister named Rachel (Ellie Cornell). Meanwhile, the ever-cautious Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) remains on the killer’s path.
In Halloween 5:The Revenge of Michael Myers, Michael Myers (Donald L. Shanks) awakens from a year-long coma and stalks his way back to his small home town in Illinois, intent on killing his niece, Jamie (Danielle Harris), who has been confined to a mental institution since Michael’s last attempt to slay her. Suspecting a psychic link between Michael and Jamie, psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) joins forces with Sheriff Ben Meeker (Beau Starr) and attempts to stop Michael’s latest rampage.
