Hong Kong host Cambodia at the Hong Kong Stadium on Thursday for an international friendly, looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games. After losing four games in a row between July and September, the Dragons beat Fiji in a resounding 8-0 victory, before seeing off Bangladesh 4-3 in an Asian Cup qualifier.
However, the Bengal Tigers came back to hold them in a 1-1 draw a few days later.
Ahead of their crunch qualifying fixture against Singapore, Hong Kong play a friendly against Cambodia in a match that could see many of their key players on the bench.
Head coach Ashley Westwood has called up 24 players for this month’s double-header against Cambodia and Singapore, including key forward Everton Camargo. The Lee Man striker has netted 11 goals in 21 games for the side.
Meanwhile, Cambodia have lost all three games of the year thus far and interestingly, by an identical 2-1 scoreline. Vietnam were their first conquerors on 19 March, followed by minnows Aruba. Tajikistan then inflicted another defeat upon the southeast Asian side in June to make it three losses in a row.
The Angkor Warriors have summoned 24 players for the Hong Kong friendly, including key forward Sieng Chanthea, who has scored eight goals from 43 appearances for them.
