Former NHL enforcer and analyst Kevin Bieksa shared his thoughts on Logan Stanley’s sucker punch on Brady Tkachuk. The incident occurred during the Ottawa Senators’ 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
Late in the second period, Jets defenseman Logan Stanley removed Brady Tkachuk’s helmet and landed a significant right-hand punch while Tkachuk was tangled up with officials attempting to separate the players, and was not fully prepared to defend himself.
Many described it as a sucker punch by Stanley on Brady. On the Hockey Night in Canada segment, Bieksa said:
“I could never do this in my career. I could never punch a guy who didn’t have his gloves off yet.”
Logan Stanley was issued a double minor penalty for roughing and removing the opponent’s helmet. Meanwhile, Brady Tkachuk was hit with a 10-minute game misconduct penalty.
