President Trump on Friday blasted New Jersey gubernatorial hopeful Rep. Mikie Sherill (D) for being “fake and corrupt” during a telephone rally in support of GOP candidate Jack Ciattarelli, as early voting was set to begin Saturday. “Mikie, as they call her — the only thing she’s got is an unusual name, other than that she’s terrible,” Trump said, according to Politico. “Mikie Sherrill looks [like] such an innocent name, but her energy policies would send your prices soaring and make New Jersey even more expensive than it already is,” he added later. The president said if the Democratic lawmaker…
Russian strikes on Ukraine overnight left four people dead and several others injured, days after President Trump issued sanctions on Russian oil companies as peace talks in the region have largely been stagnant. In Kyiv, two people were killed and at least 13 wounded from a ballistic missile strike early Saturday, Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said in a post on the social media site X. A kindergarten building was also struck in the Dnipro district, where people were injured by glass and debris, Tkachenko added. The Dnipropetrovsk region also saw two deaths with seven people injured, and…
President Trump took another swing at Canada late Friday, calling a controversial anti-tariff ad featuring excerpts from a former President Reagan speech, “crooked” and “dishonest.” He also suggested that the video was “possibly” generated by artificial intelligence (AI). “Canada lied,” Trump told reporters, as he prepared to depart for his Asia trip. “They made up a fake statement by President Reagan. Reagan was a big supporter of tariffs when needed. We need tariffs for national security, and they totally turned it around because they’re getting hurt by tariffs, and we’re gaining by tariffs.” He also cited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation’s…
FBI Director Kash Patel on Thursday called out sports commentator Stephen A. Smith after the pundit suggested the arrests in connection with the NBA sports betting scandal were revenge for perceived anti-President Trump activism. Speaking with Fox News’s Laura Ingraham, Patel called Smith’s claim, “the single dumbest thing that I have ever heard out of anyone in modern history, and I lived most of my time in Washington D.C.” “It’s right up there with Adam Schiff,” Patel said, referring to the Democratic senator from California. “We arrest people for crimes.” After the news of the arrests broke, Smith in an…
President Trump’s demolition of the White House’s East Wing to make room for a $300 million ballroom has raised questions of who has the authority to allow the work. Since Monday, demolition crews and an excavator have been spotted tearing down part of the historic building. White House officials have said the 90,000-square-foot privately funded ballroom will be completed before President Trump’s second term ends in 2029. For any improvements and changes to the executive mansion, the White House must submit construction plans to the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), an administration official told The Hill on Thursday. But while the…
Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said Wednesday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents could soon be headed to San Francisco. McLaughlin said in an interview with NewsNation’s “The Hill,” there would be “no safe haven in the United States, whether that be Los Angeles, Chicago, New York or San Francisco.” “We do have ICE officers on the ground in San Francisco,” she said. “That’s not a change in posture.” McLaughlin added that a “stepped-up presence” can be expected in San Francisco “and in any of these sanctuary cities.” When asked about ICE operations in the Bay Area…
Paul Ingrassia on Tuesday withdrew his nomination to be the head of the Office of Special Counsel after he reportedly referred to himself as having a “Nazi streak,” among other racist comments. “I will be withdrawing myself from Thursday’s [Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee] hearing to lead the Office of Special Counsel because unfortunately I do not have enough Republican votes at this time,” Ingrassia posted on Truth Social. “I appreciate the overwhelming support that I have received throughout this process and will continue to serve President Trump and this administration to Make America Great Again!” Ingrassia wrote. Ingrassia’s announcement…
Americans view the Republican Party as the party more capable of protecting the U.S. and keeping it prosperous, but fewer people hold this view since last year, according to a Gallup survey released on Tuesday. The poll found that 48 percent of Americans believe the GOP is more likely to keep the country protected, compared to 41 percent who think Democrats can do the same. However, the GOP’s lead has decreased from 57 percent in 2022 and 2023, before dipping to 54 percent in 2024. Fewer Americans see Republicans as less likely to keep the country prosperous. Gallup’s previous poll,…
Congressional Democrats and Republicans have not come to an agreement to reopen the federal government, stretching the shutdown into its third week. As it carried on into another week, it became one of the three longest shutdowns in U.S. history on Friday. Should it continue through the end of October, more federal employees, including military service members, will miss their next full paychecks. By Nov. 1, Affordable Care Act (ACA) enrollment starts. Democrats have argued for allowing health care tax credits to continue after they are due to expire at the end of the year. Their goal has been to…
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) shared an AI-generated video of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) seemingly praising the government shutdown — which is based on a real quote, but not in the manner the video depicts. “Every day gets better for us,” the video, posted on the social platform X, shows an AI-generated depiction of Schumer saying before he smiles. From there, the video shows a montage of news clips featuring military service members at food banks and flight traffic control towers shutting down. The video later shows Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) saying Democrats want the shutdown “because…
