The Department of Justice (DOJ) said two of its employees reposting a video of President Trump criticizing Luigi Mangione does not violate his right to a fair trial. In a Sept. 23 filing in the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York, Mangione’s attorneys argued that the government “has continued to prejudice” their client with the posts. Prosecutors from the U.S. attorney’s office in the Southern District of New York responded on Wednesday, writing that the reposts do not violate Mangione’s right to a fair trial because the individuals are not involved with the case. Mangione, 27,…
Apple has removed ICEBlock, which allows users to track and report the location of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, from its App Store. “We created the App Store to be a safe and trusted place to discover apps,” Apple said in a statement to NewsNation, The Hill’s sister company. “Based on information we’ve received from law enforcement about the safety risks associated with ICEBlock, we have removed it and similar apps from the App Store.” The app, created in April, allows users to track where ICE officers are and pin their locations. Those within a five-mile radius of the…
A group of 25 House Democratic veterans sent a letter Thursday to President Trump, calling his remarks to military leaders earlier this week “un-American.” The letter, authored by Rep. Pat Ryan (D-N.Y.) and signed by 24 other Democratic veterans, specifically criticized the president saying U.S. cities should be “training grounds” for the military Tuesday. “They’re very unsafe places, and we’re going to straighten them out one by one,” Trump told more than 800 admirals and generals in Quantico, Va. “And this is going to be a major part for some of the people in this room. That’s a war, too.…
New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani said President Trump’s donors “will not dictate” the race, hours after incumbent Mayor Eric Adams ended his reelection bid. “Donald Trump and his billionaire donors may be able to determine the actions of Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo, but they will not dictate the results of this election,” Mamdani said on MSNBC Sunday evening. “This continues to be the same election as it was when we started on October 23rd [2024].” Adams dropped out of the race Sunday, just over three weeks after he vowed to stay in. The mayor, who was…
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) lambasted President Trump on Wednesday, one day after the president called climate change “a con job.” “What an abomination. What an embarrassment. What a fraud,” Newsom said at The New York Times Climate Forward event Wednesday, to applause. Trump, speaking at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, said that climate change was “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on this world.” The president also criticized countries focusing on clean energy. “If you don’t get away from this green scam your country is going to fail,” Trump told attendees. “And I’m really good at predicting…
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is proposing an overhaul of the H-1B visa system to favor more highly skilled and highly paid foreign workers, according to docket submitted Tuesday. The change would replace a lottery system with a “numerical cap” that allows employers to prioritize higher-skilled workers that make higher wages. Workers would be separated into four different categories, with Level IV workers being entered into the selection pool four times and Level I workers being entered once. The policy change would, according to DHS, incentivize employers to provide “higher wages or higher skilled positions to H-1B workers.” The…
