With nearly 16,000 golf courses nationwide, chances are you live near one. Living close to preened and verdant greens may seem idyllic, however recent research demonstrates a link between golf courses and Parkinson’s disease (PD). How could this be? In a 2025 case-control study published in JAMA Network Open, U.S. researchers hypothesized that there would be greater risk of PD in those residing within water service areas: with a golf course; on vulnerable groundwater regions; or with shallow municipal wells. Distance Matters The investigators compared 419 cases of PD with 5113 matched controls. After accounting for patient demographics and neighborhood…
The White House has ramped up talks for a possible pardon of the high profile crypto tycoon Changpeng “CZ” Zhao – sparking a fierce debate inside the administration about optics as Trump’s family cuts a flurry of crypto deals, The Post has learned. The 48-year-old founder of the giant crypto exchange Binance – who spent four months in US prison last year – said in May he petitioned President Trump for a pardon of his guilty plea over a single count of violating the Bank Secrecy Act and failing to maintain proper anti-money laundering controls when he was Binance’s CEO.…
The Brooklyn-born father of an Israeli-American believed to be among those murdered by Hamas said Sunday that he’s still holding out hope for “a miracle” that his son might come home alive. While the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told Itay Chen’s family that the 19-year-old was among those killed, they were unable to give definitive proof, his father, Ruby Chen, told CNN “The knowledge of the IDF that indeed he was killed, we do not have that physical evidence. That’s missing,” the father said while anxiously awaiting the expected handover of living hostages on Monday. Ruby Chen, a Brooklyn native,…
Diane Keaton’s longtime pal Carole Bayer Sager was shocked by how frail the actress looked the last time they saw each other. “I saw her two or three weeks ago,” the songwriter told People. “She had lost so much weight.” Sager, who co-wrote Keaton’s single “First Christmas,” shared that she hadn’t seen as much of Keaton this year because the “Baby Boom” actress had been spending time in Palm Springs following the California wildfires in January. A close friend of Diane Keaton’s said she was shocked by the actor’s appearance when she saw her less than a month ago. GC…
Afghanistan said Sunday it killed 58 Pakistani soldiers in overnight border operations, in response to what it called repeated violations of its territory and airspace. Pakistan’s army gave far lower casualty figures, saying 23 troops were killed. Earlier in the week, Afghan authorities accused Pakistan of bombing the capital, Kabul, and a market in the country’s east. Pakistan did not claim responsibility for the assault. The Taliban government’s chief spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said Afghan forces have captured 25 Pakistani army posts, leaving 30 Pakistani soldiers wounded. Afghanistan said it killed 58 Pakistani soldiers in overnight border operations. AP Smoke rises from…
Dubbed the UK’s “worst sex offender,” Scottish rapist and murderer Iain Packer is currently serving the second-longest prison term in the nation’s history. But he very nearly got away with it. That was, until investigative journalist Sam Poling began a relentless investigation — now a podcast and documentary — into the 2005 unsolved murder of Glasgow woman Emma Caldwell, whose naked body was discovered in isolated woods. While Packer had been on the police radar since the beginning, Poling says officers were initially shut down when they named him as a suspect. Iain Packer is currently serving the second-longest prison…
Colorism is pervasive in the U.S. and has negative effects on the income, education, quality of life, and relationships of many darker-skinned individuals (for an overview, see Wu & Chen, 2025). However, many people are unaware of their own prejudice when it comes to skin tone. In addition, most studies on colorism have been conducted on Black or Latinx Americans. Among some other groups, such as white Americans, darker skin has grown to be a marker of status, indicating that one can afford recreational activities like going to the beach. Yet, little is known about the role of colorism among…
Disgraced UK royal Prince Andrew allegedly emailed pedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein long after he claimed to have cut ties — telling him they were in their scandal “together” and would get to “play some more soon!!!!’ The 65-year-old royal, long nicknamed “Randy Andy,” messaged Epstein on Feb. 28, 2011, a day after the notorious photo of him with Ghislaine Maxwell and his sex accuser, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, was first published, the Sun reported. Andrew later claimed he had cut ties with Epstein in December 2010, saying he flew to New York to end their friendship — three months before the newly…
Another trend that’s once again making dating messy. It seems that off-putting dating trends are continually emerging for singles to be aware of as they navigate today’s complex digital dating world — and “zip coding” seems to be the latest one. While it might sound self-explanatory compared to its trend counterparts like “shrekking” and “bio-baiting,” to give some context — zip coding can mean one of two things. It’s either when singles who are swiping on dating apps limit their options to a certain mile radius to only attract potential suitors in a certain zip code — something that could…
Archaeologists recently unearthed the remnants of a historic royal palace from a Polish river, shedding light on a violent part of the country’s history. The Museum of Polish History announced the discovery in a Sept. 10 press release. The artifacts were uncovered in the Vistula River in Warsaw, and were connected to the 17th-century royal residence Villa Regia. Officials described Villa Regia as “one of the most magnificent palaces of 17th-century Europe,” before it was looted and destroyed during the Swedish Deluge, which lasted from 1655 to 1660. The Swedish military occupied the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during that time. Historians estimate that as…
