An Australian woman has decided to end her own life with medical assistance to “die on her own terms” after years of living with a rare and terminal neurological disease. Annaliese Holland, 25, said she has been ill since she was a child, enduring repeated hospital stays as doctors tried to diagnose an illness that caused chronic pain, nausea, and vomiting — and forced her to depend on IV feeding for the past decade, she told News.com.au. She was diagnosed with autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy, a rare autoimmune disease in which the body attacks the autonomic ganglia, the nerves responsible for…
Shocking footage captured Miss Jamaica plummeting off the stage during the Miss Universe preliminary evening gown round in Thailand. Dr. Gabrielle Henry was strutting down the Bangkok stage in a glamorous orange gown when she suddenly stepped off the edge of the dark runway and seemingly faceplanted, according to footage posted to social media. Members of the audience could be seen immediately jumping up in their seats to check on Henry. Later footage posted to social media captured the beauty queen being carried away on a stretcher. Henry was rushed to Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Thailand and is not suffering from any…
Yes, interim head coach Mike Kafka knew injured rookie running back Cam Skattebo would be attending the “Monday Night Raw’’ WWE card at the Garden. And no, Kafka did not have a problem with Skattebo — coming off surgery to repair a dislocated right ankle — mixing it up with wrestler Dominik Mysterio — during the festivities. “It was a rookie event,’’ Kafka said. “We have some team events that our support staff put together for the rookies to kind of get out. So, I thought it was a cool thing. I know it was like a staged little brawl…
DENVER — Adam Edstrom was a healthy scratch for the first time this season Tuesday night in Las Vegas, a decision Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan said was partly based on performance. Asked how he’d evaluate his start to the 2025-26 campaign, the 6-foot-7 Swede was frank. “Up and down, I know I can produce better hockey than I’ve done so far,” he said Wednesday afternoon after participating in the optional practice at Ball Arena. “First period of time that I sat out, I had some smaller stuff that I was dealing with, and I thought that kind of affected…
A neighbor once told me that he often dresses, ties his shoelaces, drags his toothbrush around, starts the car, drives down the parkway, and arrives at his office without much mental effort; this sometimes alarms him. Yet we all do it. We all have days where we go through the motions like an automaton. How many mornings have I walked to the train station without noticing who I passed along the way? For this zombie-like state, we can thank the “default mode network,” which is located in the brain’s prefrontal, parietal, and temporal lobes. The theory of the default mode…
A large Russian drone and missile barrage on Ukraine’s western city of Ternopil killed at least 25 people, including three children, authorities said Wednesday, as President Volodymyr Zelensky went to Turkey in search of diplomatic support for his fight against Russia’s invasion. The nighttime attack hit two nine-story apartment blocks in Ternopil, located around 200 kilometers (120 miles) from the Polish border, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. At least 73 people, including 15 children, were injured, emergency services said. Ukrainian emergency personnel operating at the site of a heavily damaged residential building following Russian air strike in the city…
We spend a lot of time discussing the horrors of the world here. However, it is important to remember which monster is the scariest of them all. Capitalism. That’s right, when it comes to horror media, cash is always king. The latest in a long string of lawsuits just came in from Dave Erickson. For […]
