A Florida woman who killed a beloved grandmother in a hit-and-run refused to apologize or acknowledge the victim’s family after being sentenced to only four years in prison. Patricia Garner’s family was in attendance for the sentencing of Sharon Cox on Tuesday after she had pleaded guilty to running down and killing their loved one and injuring two others in the parking lot of the Miami Gardens community center in 2023, NBC 6 reported. However, Cox, 65, stayed silent at sentencing — offering no apology to Garner’s heartbroken family — a moment that frustrated relatives after months of outcry to…
Los Angeles County leaders declared a local state of emergency in the region Tuesday, according to local officials. News of the proclamation was shared in a news release online by LA County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath’s office. The measure was said to be a response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids across LA County, which is home to more than 10 million people and one of the US’s largest immigrant populations. The county can now offer to support residents financially who have been impacted by the raids, including rent relief and accessing state funds for any legal aid. “What’s happening in our communities…
Hamas handed over more bodies of deceased hostages to Israel on Tuesday, one sign of progress after a number of apparent setbacks in the day since US President Donald Trump touted his plan to end the Gaza war The bodies were returned after Israel announced it would cut in half the number of humanitarian aid trucks allowed into Gaza in a move to punish Hamas for what Israel called the terror group’s violation of its agreement to transfer remains under the cease-fire deal reached last week. Meanwhile, re-emergent Hamas fighters demonstrated they were reasserting control in Gaza by deploying hundreds of security forces in the streets and executing several people they accused of collaborating with Israel. President Donald Trump blasted ABC News host George Stephanopoulos during a Tuesday meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei. “We’ll take a couple of questions from the news, and I’m sure they’ll be incredibly non-hostile, and friendly, like JD went through a very ‘friendly’ interview with George Slopadopoulos,” Trump said with apparent sarcasm, making fun of Stephanopoulos’ name. Trump went on to reference the ABC lawsuit, joking, “He was nice enough to pay me $16 million the last time we came — he had to pay $16 million to me. Which is good. It was worth it. It was worth having somebody lie. If you…
A Florida judge slapped Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) with a restraining order after his ex-girlfriend, reigning Miss United States Lindsey Langston, accused him of harassing her and threatening to leak sexually explicit videos of her. The decision issued Tuesday by state Circuit Judge Fred Koberlein Jr. in Columbia County will bar the lawmaker from acts of violence against Langston, as well as contacting or referring to her on any social media platform until January 2026, according to the judgment obtained by Politico. Koberlein Jr. sided with Langston’s argument that Mills had caused her “substantial emotional distress” and that he had “no credible rebuttal”…

A US border patrol chase that began with a suspected illegal immigrant ramming into a federal patrol car ended in a crash — sparking a tense standoff between residents and law enforcement in Chicago Tuesday, according to reports and authorities. A red SUV driven by a person suspected to be in the country illegally rammed into a Border Patrol vehicle before attempting to flee the scene in the city’s Southeast Side, Department of Homeland Security officials said. Guerschon Yabusele is operating on a steep learning curve, according to his new head coach, and it has looked like that. Yabusele, 29, has struggled to find his footing this preseason, while alternating frontcourt positions, with his minutes in Monday’s loss to the Wizards looking especially clunky. Yabusele is the biggest offseason acquisition by the Knicks after signing as a $12 million free agent, and at 6-foot-8 is a natural power forward but strong enough to play center. Guerschon Yabusele wins the opening tip of Monday night’s preseason game against the Wizards. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post Against the…
Recently, my yoga teacher commented that “Fall is a windy time of year.” Depending on where you live, the cool wind may pick up or briskness cut the air. This seasonal shift can feel energizing, or rev up your anxiety. But my yoga teacher was not just talking about the external weather forecast. She was also talking about the shift of weather inside of each of us; that is, a feeling of worry, frenzy, and overwhelm that ramps up quite predictably each fall. Not coincidentally, these freshly stirred up feelings might bear relation to the weather around us; after all,…
Ben Rice has made it clear he has a legitimate, middle-of-the-order, big league bat. Austin Wells has made it clear he is a legitimate big league catcher. If the Yankees could merge the two players into one, they might have one of the top all-around catchers in the game. Instead, getting the rest of their games to catch up to their current strengths remains the next challenge in line as the Yankees try to best utilize Rice and Wells in the same lineup. Aside from a stretch in August when Rice threatened to take over the bulk of the starts…
