Friday wasn’t just a fluke. It wasn’t merely a jolt of energy from Cameron Young, the Westchester County native making his Ryder Cup debut. After securing a point for Team USA during four-ball Friday afternoon, Young remained in the lineup Saturday morning for foursomes and proceeded to pair with Bryson DeChambeau for a 4 & 2 victory over Matt Fitzpatrick and Ludvig Åberg — which served as the Americans’ only point of the morning. He became the first Team USA player to win the first two matches of his career, with both by at least four points, since Patrick Reed…

A stampede at a rally for a popular Indian actor and politician in the southern state of Tamil Nadu killed at least 36 people and injured 40 others, the state’s health minister said late Saturday. Ma Subramanian told The Associated Press that the victims were dead by the time they were taken to a hospital and that the injured were stable. The dead included eight children, Subramanian said. The rally, which officials say was attended by tens of thousands of people, was being addressed by Vijay, one of Tamil Nadu’s most successful actors-turned-politician in the district of Karur. Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson went scorched earth after her 14-year-old son’s Iowa high school celebrated “Bisexual Plus Awareness Week” during a student-run television program. The Iowa congresswoman sent a letter to US Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon on Friday eviscerating Linn-Mar High School in Marion for broadcasting the “inappropriate” segment to students this week without parental consent and demanding that a full investigation be launched. “This week’s messages to help stop biphobia also included encouraging students to wear bisexual pride pins to show allyship, learn about bisexuality and its history, and validate the feelings of bisexual individuals,” Hinson said…
Gabe Perreault and Brennan Othmann replaced Conor Sheary and Brett Berard in the main training camp group Saturday at MSG Training Center after the rookies skated with the Hartford group the day before. Such is an indication of the players who are on the bubble of making the Rangers’ opening-night roster. Perreault and Othmann skated on lines that are projected to serve as the third unit in the Blueshirts lineup. While Perreault lined up on the left wing of Noah Laba and Jonny Brodzinski, Othmann was on the left of Juuso Parssinen and Taylor Raddysh. “Whenever I’m in, I’ll be…
The next time Cam Schlittler takes the mound, it will be the playoffs, and even though he’s never pitched in the postseason, the young right-hander has certainly looked like a pitcher built for October. Asked if he’d be confident handing Schlittler the ball in the playoffs following another superb outing Saturday against the Orioles, Aaron Boone said, “Yes, absolutely.” And why not? The hard-throwing rookie, making just his 14th MLB start, dominated a dead-looking Orioles team in a 6-1 win in The Bronx. He set career highs by pitching seven innings and striking out nine. Schlittler didn’t allow a run…
Israel will have to make “painful and significant” concessions under the US plan to end the war in Gaza. The givebacks will run contrary to several recent policy positions by the Jewish State — especially a role for the Palestinian Authority in the postwar plan, Israeli television’s Channel 12 reported Saturday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly rejected any role for the Palestinian Authority, insisting that Israel should retain control over the Strip after the war. Israel is reportedly bracing for “painful and significant” concessions under the US plan to end the war, the country’s Channel 12 reported. REUTERS President…
[nyp_video player=”SPdDOYds” platform=”jw-player” playlist=”W5xXwQyA” playlisttype=”dynamic” placement=”true” jwpropertyid=”XDErnc08″ / A lifelong story of love and service has been brought into the public eye through a compelling donation to a World War II-related museum. At 106 years old, Alice Beck Darrow, a former nurse, knows more than most about survival. So did her husband, Dean Darrow. The pair met while she was caring for him at Mare Island Naval Hospital in California in 1942. The young sailor had survived the deadly attack on the USS West Virginia on Dec. 7, 1941. That ship was sunk by six torpedoes and two bombs, according to the National Park…
