How can we be well in a world that feels so desperately unwell? These days, I’m asked this question all the time. Where do we find ground in a world that seems to be on a downward spiral at warp speed, nosediving into what feels like a groundless bottom? And furthermore, how do we create change in a system that has fundamentally changed, and in which all the old rules and methods for creating change no longer exist? First, let me take a step back. Earlier this year, I received some not-so-great test results. They suggested some potentially scary things…
Prince William admitted his dad, King Charles III, and his wife, Kate Middleton, being diagnosed with cancer at the same time took him to “some pretty not great places.” In a preview of the Prince of Wales’ upcoming appearance on Apple TV+’s “The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy,” William said his family has been “lucky” because they “hadn’t had many illnesses in the family for a very long time.” “My grandparents lived until they were in the high nineties,” the dad of three said, referring to his late paternal grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who died in September 2022 and April 2021,…
Conditions are slowly starting to improve in Bermuda after the island was lashed by powerful winds, heavy rain, and massive waves as Hurricane Imelda passed by late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. The center of Hurricane Imelda came extremely close to Bermuda but didn’t make landfall. Instead, the hurricane passed just to the south of the island. Despite that, impacts from the hurricane brought down some trees and power lines, and waves kicked up by the storm were seen rushing inland. Now that Hurricane Imelda continues to race away from the island, damage assessments are being conducted. “Assessment crews, including BELCO teams…
Is your doctor stuck in 2011? A new survey found six percent of Americans feel like they’re walking “backwards in time” 14 years whenever they have a doctor’s appointment. The poll of 2,000 U.S. adults who have visited a doctor within the past 12 months found that two in three believe having a modern or digitally-forward healthcare practice would improve their experience during a doctor visit. And half believe the use of new technology would also improve their healthcare experiences. In fact, over the next 5 to 10 years, people envision the healthcare industry changing to incorporate new ways of…
Shocking video from Thursday’s deadly knife attack at a UK synagogue shows a cop frantically yelling at horrified onlookers to “go away” because the deranged suspect “has a bomb.” Two people were killed after a man rammed his car into a crowd outside the Heaton Park synagogue in Manchester before stabbing multiple worshippers who were marking Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year in Judaism. In one video from the terrifying incident, a police officer is seen saying, “Everybody else, if you’re not involved, move back. Get away, somebody stay with the casualties. Everybody else, he has a bomb,…
A defining moment of the Aaron Judge Yankee Era comes tonight. In today’s Three Things I Think video I’ll dig into the fact that we saw Jazz Chisholm’s full skillset on display in the Yankees’ wild-card win just one day after being benched in their Game 1 loss. He can win you games with his energy and he can sometimes hurt you in games with his energy. Can he keep the positive momentum going moving forward? Speaking of benches… what will Aaron Boone do with his in this do-or-die Game 3? I know what I would do. I’ll speak on…
Have you ever experienced a relationship with someone who leaves you feeling like you’ve been used? Whether it’s friendship, family, or marriage, there are those relationships that seem based on what you can do for them and rarely, if at all, about you. As a therapist, I hear this all the time. “I’m in a relationship where it’s all about them. Should I end the relationship? Or is there something wrong with me if I stay?” Relationships are complicated, and people are complicated, but in any relationship that has you feeling that ‘it’s all about them,’ there comes a time…
With at least another day before the Senate votes to potentially end the government shutdown, the White House is preparing for mass layoffs. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russell Vought told House Republicans in a Wednesday call that reductions in the workforce will happen in a day or two, according to sources on a call. Meanwhile, as many as a dozen lawmakers may be looking for a resolution on both a new deadline for a stopgap measure and on enhanced Affordable Care Act credits, which will expire at year’s end and result in soaring premiums. Lawmakers expect the shutdown could…
At least two people were killed and several others injured Thursday when a madman plowed a car into pedestrians and stabbed a security guard outside a UK synagogue on Yom Kippur — the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. The savage attack unfolded outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester just after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday as scores of people were worshipping inside, police said. Cops descended on the scene after a witness reported seeing a car crashing into members of the public before a man was stabbed and left lying in a pool of blood outside the synagogue. The attack suspect was shot dead by police…
