The NFL’s first trip to Dublin came with a snag. Steelers quarterback Skylar Thompson was the victim of a mugging on Friday night in the Irish capital ahead of Pittsburgh’s game against the Vikings at Croke Park, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported. Thompson suffered minor injuries, but is OK and with the team, per Pelissero. The 28-year-old was already on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury on Sept. 10. “We are aware of a situation involving Skylar Thompson on Friday night in Dublin,” a Steelers spokesman told Pelissero. “We will have no further comment at this time as we…

The Eagles head to Tampa as 3-point road favorites, but their 3-0 record masks deeper issues under the hood. Philadelphia ranks No. 27 overall in Net Yards per Play and has relied heavily on second-half rallies to survive inferior opponents. Tampa Bay, also 3-0, enters with a top-five offense in EPA/play and a defense specifically built to neutralize Philly’s run-heavy identity. This line hasn’t moved much all week, which suggests sharp bettors are respecting…

The CTU, which represents more than 27,000 members, hailed Shakur, who was living in Cuba following her 1979 prison break, as “a revolutionary fighter,” in a social media post, drawing immediate condemnation online, including from New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy. The Chicago Teachers Union posted a tribute honoring Assata Shakur — a fugitive convicted of killing a New Jersey state trooper…

Big plays made and not made can make all the difference. Bobby Okereke learned another lesson about this the hard way. The Giants and Chiefs were tied at 6-6 late in the second quarter last Sunday night when Brian Burns sacked Patrick Mahomes for a 7-yard loss. The ball came loose and Okereke, a starting inside linebacker, was in the right spot for a scoop-and-score fumble recovery for a touchdown. It could have been a game-turning moment. It was not. Okereke got his hands on the ball, but Mahomes, hustling to the max, pursued the play, punched the ball out…

Friday wasn’t just a fluke. It wasn’t merely a jolt of energy from Cameron Young, the Westchester County native making his Ryder Cup debut. After securing a point for Team USA during four-ball Friday afternoon, Young remained in the lineup Saturday morning for foursomes and proceeded to pair with Bryson DeChambeau for a 4 & 2 victory over Matt Fitzpatrick and Ludvig Åberg — which served as the Americans’ only point of the morning. He became the first Team USA player to win the first two matches of his career, with both by at least four points, since Patrick Reed…
