It was less town hall talk and more kung fu theater. A local election candidate is making waves for a bizarre protest at a township meeting this week when he dressed up in martial arts gear and unleashed a series of flying kicks and punched through several of his own protest signs. The man, identified in previous theatrical stunts as Will Thilly, is running as an independent for the Cranford Township Committee in New Jersey and has been railing against the mayor on taxes, development policy and civic unity. About 45 minutes into the streamed meeting, Thilly approached the podium in his blue-colored…
Hurricane Melissa rapidly strengthened into a major Category 3 hurricane as it unleashed torrential rain in the northern Caribbean and threatened catastrophic flooding and landslides in Jamaica and southern Haiti. US forecasters warned that the slow-moving Melissa is expected to strengthen further and be a major hurricane when making landfall in Jamaica early next week. It should be near or over Cuba by the middle of the week. Hurricane Melissa is tracked southeast of Jamaica in the early morning of Oct 26, 2025. ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Champion Tom Aspinall and top-ranked Ciryl Gane couldn’t make it through the opening round of their heavyweight main event at UFC 321 inside Etihad Arena before the match was ruled a no-contest. Aspinall (15-3-0) and Gane (13-2-0) both came out with a lot of energy until an accidental double eye poke prompted an official timeout at the 4:35 mark of the first round. Aspinall (15-3-0) could not see out of his right eye during the allotted five-minute break, and at 4:09 into the stoppage, the match was ruled a no-contest. Warning graphic image It…
One week ago, St. John’s struggled with mid-major opponent Towson. The Johnnies found a way to win that game. Saturday night, they lost, but there were reasons to be encouraged by the 96-94 overtime setback to Michigan at the Garden. There was progress — in the Johnnies’ fight, their ability to rally several times from deficits and the overall play of their frontcourt. “I saw a lot of really good things,” coach Rick Pitino said afterward. “But I think the weakness is just eight new guys [getting used to] playing together. Great game — great game.” It was an entertaining…

CALGARY, Alberta — All signs point to Brennan Othmann making his season debut with the Rangers on Sunday night against the Flames. It’s a prime opportunity for the 22-year-old wing, who was cut from Rangers training camp earlier than years past and sent to AHL Hartford following a subpar preseason performance. Despite that, Othmann was still the first forward prospect recalled with Matt Rempe unable to make the road trip due to an upper-body injury. “It’s definitely a little disappointing, wasn’t really expecting it to be honest,” Othmann said of his early demotion Saturday after practice at the Scotiabank Saddledome.…
SAN ANTONIO — It was Ziaire Williams’ janky jumper that got him salary-dumped by Memphis. But now it’s his improved 3-point stroke that is earning him crunch-time minutes with the Nets. A below league-average shooter for his entire career, Williams comes into Sunday’s game here against the Spurs hitting 54.5 percent percent from behind the arc after going 6-of-9 from deep in Friday’s home-opening loss to the Cavaliers. That’s in the top 10 among players averaging 5.5 attempts, per Basketball Reference. And it’s a far cry from where he started as a shooter. “Yeah, for sure. I mean, I worked…
Now that’s arresting style. A man who stepped into a photo taken outside the Louvre in Paris amid the investigation into the recent brazen crown jewels heist at the famous museum has gone viral. The mystery man, who was dressed in a three-piece suit with a dark-colored jacket and a gold vest topped with a fedora and an umbrella used as a walking stick, had social media buzzing, comparing him to Inspector Clouseau from the “Pink Panther” and Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. Many seemed to believe that the dashing man was the chief inspector on the case, while some even speculated his dapper appearance…
