The first-ever Weird Tales graphic novel is almost here, and an exciting cover variant is planned from artist Colton Worley. Worley’s turned his talents to breathtaking illustrations of many comics and pulp characters. For Weird Tales, he’s imagined “Doctor Satan,” drawing on a tale titled “Doctor Satan vs. Jules de Grandin.” De Grandin was a paranormal investigator from Seabury Quinn and was a favorite of Weird Tales pulp readers.First published in 1923, the iconic pulp magazine Weird Tales defined the horror and fantasy genres early on and helped give rise to icons such as H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Ray Bradbury, and C.L.…
Your attention is a crucial asset and resource. Its proper application can be a differentiating factor in your life and work, in distinguishing you in relation to other people and, crucially, in what you can offer to the world that artificial intelligence/AI can’t. Attention can also be a valuable component of self-development. Thinking of attention as one of your most closely-guarded assets can be life-changing. Applying inner resource tools like listening, observation, mindfulness, memory, self-awareness, self-efficacy, and the mind-body connection can help you place your attention where it really belongs. Peter Drucker and the Attention to Detail Peter Drucker, the…
The crowd inside New York Comic Con’s Main Stage erupted as AMC unveiled an extended first look at The Vampire Lestat, the highly anticipated third season of Interview with the Vampire. For those who have followed Louis de Pointe du Lac’s tortured journey from New Orleans to Paris to some semblance of truth in Dubai, this new chapter promises something bolder, stranger, and far more drug-fueled. I was in the audience as the footage rolled — a feverish blur of the past and present, blood-soaked intimacy, and Lestat’s unmistakable presence as the new frontman. I also had the chance to…
January is wrapping up. And if you are a New Year’s resolution person, I have some not great news for you. February is kind of where resolutions go to die. In fact, some studies show that 88 percent of New Year’s resolutions fail in the first two weeks. Partly it’s due to a common but largely debunked idea that it takes about 21 to 30 days to form a new habit. So in theory, if you started some new personal improvement commitment on January 1 and you really stuck to it (every day!), by February 1, it might be transformed…
The United Soccer League revealed the name of its new Division One setup Tuesday morning, announcing that it will be called “USL Premier”, with a targeted start date of 2028. The new top division, which was first revealed nearly 12 months ago, will sit atop a three-tiered structure that also includes the pre-existing USL Championship and USL League One.’USL Premier’ The USL, America’s second professional setup, revealed last year that it planned to launch a Division One league – a category as yet only including Major League Soccer. For nearly 12 months, it has kept the name and format under…
In the movie “Ghostbusters II,” the team discovers a river of pink slime (mood slime) flowing beneath New York City. The slime is a supernatural substance that feeds on negative human emotions, such as anger, fear, and hostility. It’s being used by the villain Vigo the Carpathian to return to life. The slime becomes a central plot device. It reacts emotionally, moving when people argue. It powers paranormal events across the city and ultimately helps animate the Statue of Liberty during the finale. Beneath the comedy, the slime operates as a metaphor. If the cause and consequence of our anger…
Modern horror cannot stop explaining itself. It walks into the room already clearing its throat. Rules show up immediately and themes get underlined just in case you missed them. Fear barely has time to sit down before it gets a PowerPoint. Horror works better when it knows when to shut up. Silence gives the audience space to lean in and do some work. Once everything is labeled and mapped, the danger shrinks fast. Mystery is not a mistake it is the whole engine. Explaining The Monster Breaks The Spell The fastest way to ruin a perfectly good horror movie is…
The Egg Era Somewhere around 11 or 12 years of age, a tween undergoes a small but notable behavioral shift. When talking to parents, I often refer to this developmental stage as the “egg era,” i.e. “It would be so much easier if I just came from an egg rather than parents whose existence is so incredibly embarrassing.” Out in public, formerly neutral experiences, such as shopping for clothes with a parent, are now excruciatingly uncomfortable. The teen ducking behind the coat rack: “What if someone from school sees me picking out a new winter jacket with my mother? Will…
One of the USA’s best young soccer talents is on his way to Spain. U.S. men’s national team right-back Alex Freeman is reportedly set for a move to Villarreal from MLS team Orlando City, according to The Athletic. The deal is reportedly worth a potential fee worth at least $7 million, as well as a sell-on clause for Orlando. The 21-year-old defender will make the jump to Spain’s LaLiga after becoming a breakout talent for MLS. His versatility in the back-line earned him an All-Star selection in 2025 and the league’s Young Player of the Year honors. His six goals were…
A psychiatric unit is critical and essential when someone is so ill that they are not safe from themselves, and I am thankful that I was able to stay in one during the height of my acute psychotic episodes. Being there saved me from making costly mistakes when I had absolutely no control over my judgment and poor decision-making, and was caught up in a completely delusional reality. I was also safe from getting hurt or killed. It provided a location for medical care where I received antipsychotics that would stabilize me. So, in that sense, I am very thankful.…
