Manchester United stars Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire have reacted on social media after Marcus Rashford won his first trophy with Barcelona. The Englishman came off the bench in the Spanish Super Cup final as the Catalan side defeated Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia.
Rashford spoke to the media immediately after the match, admitting it was a surreal feeling to have won his first piece of silverware with Barcelona. He added that they still have a lot ot improve and said:
Thanks for the submission!
“I am very happy today. It’s the first trophy [with Barça] and it’s always the best feeling to win the first one. I hope now we can win some more. I hope it’s not the last one. It was a top performance. This is what we’re capable of doing. There are still areas to improve, but we can enjoy this moment today.”
“It’s really good [being at the club]. When we win, it makes it so much easier. Throughout the season, even in moments when we have not played so well, we stick together and act as a team. For me, it’s perfect and I am really enjoying my time here.”
The Englishman took to social media soon after, posting photos with the trophy and captioning it: “SUPER CUP CHAMPIONS 🙌🏾🏆 What a way to start the year!!”
The Manchester United loanee saw Fernandes and Maguire among those reacting to the post, with the Red Devils captain commenting: “Congratulations my brother [heart emoji]” and the English defender adding “Love it mate [clapping emoji]”.
Rashford left Manchester United for Barcelona on a season-long loan at the start of the season following a fallout with then-manager Ruben Amorim in 2024.
Marcus Rashford wants to stay at Barcelona over Manchester United return
Marcus Rashford spoke to the Spanish media in December, confirming that he wants to stay at Barcelona after the loan spell ends. He is working hard to earn a permanent move to the Catalan side and said (via M.E.N)
“Of course what I want is to stay at Barca. It’s an end goal, but it’s not the reason why I’m training hard and giving it my best. The purpose is to win. Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles.”
Barcelona have a €30 million option to sign Rashford on a permanent transfer at the end of the season. However, the club have insisted that they have not made a decision on the Manchester United loanee.
