Glamour UK announced a group of trans women as among its 2025 “Women of the Year” — stoking outrage from outspoken author JK Rowling, who said the honor sends the wrong message to girls.
The British glossy said it was bestowing the annual award to nine trans women, dubbed “The Dolls,” saying “they “these trailblazers work tirelessly to empower, uplift and celebrate trans voices.”
But Rowling, the Harry Potter author who’s spoken out against trans issues, panned the decision.
“I grew up in an era when mainstream women’s magazines told girls they needed to be thinner and prettier,” she wrote on X, with a photo of “The Dolls,” a term of endearment among the trans community.
“Now mainstream women’s magazines tell girls that men are better women than they are.”
Rowling was not the only one who attacked Glamour UK for its cover.
Zuby, a British rapper who has also advocated against the transgender community, agreed with Rowling and criticized those who celebrated the cover.
“The ‘trans movement’ is easily the most misogynistic movement in modern history. Especially because of its scale and mainstream acceptance,” he wrote.
Oli London, a fellow Brit who has become a vocal critic of the trans community after de-transitioning, joined in on the outrage.
“Glamour magazine UK features 9 Transgender men on the cover and calls them ‘Women of the Year,’” London wrote.
Glamour’s US magazine faced backlash earlier this week for naming actress Rachel Zegler and children’s YouTuber Ms. Rachel as its latest “Women of the Year” following their criticisms of Israel’s war in Gaza.
Zegler caused chaos for Disney after she posted “and always remember, free Palestine” shortly after the Snow White trailer first dropped. Later reports claimed that she and her Israeli co-star, Gal Gadot, were butting heads over the conflict.
Ms. Rachel — a 42-year-old mom whose real name is Rachel Griffin Accurso — meanwhile made numerous posts about the deaths of children in Gaza and recorded herself praying for Palestinian kids in the war-torn strip.
Her advocacy prompted StopAntisemitism to request a Department of Justice Investigation into whether she was being backed by Hamas.
