It’s just about that time — though the Yankees would not mind it being more than just a few days away from beginning their playoff run.
Either on Tuesday for a wild-card series or Saturday for the ALDS, if they are able to outlast the Blue Jays for the division crown, the Yankees will take the next step in trying to redeem themselves from last October, when they came up just short of the organization’s 28th title.
But to get to 28, which 26 will the Yankees take with them?
That may be different for each round, as it was last season. For the ALDS, they carried 11 pitchers and 15 position players. In the ALCS, it was 12 pitchers and 14 position players, with Anthony Rizzo and Marcus Stroman replacing Ben Rice and Duke Ellis — and Mark Leiter Jr. replacing an injured Ian Hamilton mid-series. And for the World Series, it was 13 pitchers and 13 position players, with Nestor Cortes joining the fold in place of Jon Berti.
