THE BRIDE!: “From Maggie Gyllenhaal (Academy Award-nominated writer/director of The Lost Daughter) and starring Academy Award nominee Jessie Buckley and Academy Award winner Christian Bale comes THE BRIDE! A bold, iconoclastic take on one of the world’s most compelling stories.
A lonely Frankenstein (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!
The film stars Buckley, Bale, Peter Sarsgaard, with Bening, Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal, and Oscar winner Penélope Cruz. Maggie Gyllenhaal directs from her own screenplay and produces alongside Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman Keren. The executive producers are Carla Raij, David Webb and Courtney Kivowitz.
Gyllenhaal is supported behind the camera by a team of award-winning film artisans, including director of photography Lawrence Sher, production designer Karen Murphy, editor Dylan Tichenor, music supervisor Randall Poster, composer Hildur Gudnadóttir and costume designer Sandy Powell.
Warner Bros. Pictures Presents A First Love Films / In The Current Company Production, A Maggie Gyllenhaal Film: THE BRIDE!. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, only in theaters and IMAX in North America on March 6, 2026, and internationally beginning 4 March 2026.”

THE SECOND CIRCLE: “Love and Horror Productions has returned with their second short film “The Second Circle.” This short follows the story of Franny (Jamie Alvey), a Kentucky housewife, her controlling husband, John (Douglas Dean Mitchell), and Paul (Cedric Gegel), John’s younger brother and Franny’s lover. Based on the real-life tragedy of Francesca Da Rimini and Paolo Malatesta and their fictional portrayal in Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy, this short explores a maddening eternity of torment and a desire so great you would stomach it anyway.
Much of the crew for this film are returning members of the crew for the studio’s previous short “Your Husband Was a Good Man.” Alvey has once again taken both the writer’s and director’s chairs on top of the lead role of Franny. Emily Fabrizio returns as an executive producer and costumer. Riley Norris resumes her role in unit production management as well as being an executive producer. Callie Kirk steps back into make-up artistry on top of her role as assistant producer. Deaton Gabbard, lead actor of the previous short, acts in a greater crew capacity on this film as both producer and casting director. Petra and John Mulligan return to their respective roles; Petra as SFX supervisor and production designer and John as editor and assistant director. Filming is set for October 2025. An estimated timeline sets the final edits in Spring 2026. Production progress and further news will be updated through the Love and Horror social media pages.
Norris describes the film as, “a non-Euclidian love story that reaches beyond the punitive torment of the Inferno”. Franny and Paul’s tragedy is as surreal as it is bloody. The remote Kentucky setting replaces the hellscape of the lovers’ earlier iteration, but it is no less isolating. Franny’s marriage is not one of her choice and she has little else. Her only escape comes in the form of Paul. Even then, both are at the mercy of John and his anger. Every time they are discovered, a gruesome end meets them and they wake the next day for it to happen again. Caught in an endless cycle of violence, the lovers find themselves faced with the question of if they are worth it to each other. For every second that Franny or Paul are faced with a gruesome fate, they are also faced with the quiet love they share.
Support for “The Second Circle” and for Love and Horror Productions can be shared on the Seed&Spark campaign page through the end of September, and more information can be found on the company website.
